My journey losing it all (~11 BTC)
I lost it all (this my old rogerver bcashy troll account btw) I don’t even know how to start but as of yesterday I’m officially broke, I ruined my life and future. I’m a 23yrs guy, my journey with Bitcoin started in 2014. I bought it to actually use it not sure if people do that nowadays? but The HODL journey didn’t start until the beginning of 2017 as I notice the $ value in my blockchain wallet steadily increasing didn’t even know how or why it was increasing I thought it was a glitch making me free money for this reason I decided to go ALL IN I dumped my life saving into Bitcoin. price was around 1-2K $ and I was able to get 11 BTC in total. Unfortunately before the Bullrun start I lost around 4 coin due to ICO"s scams and just buying shitcooins in poloniex with zero trading knowledge(had a great time with the trollbox). After my loss I took my coins out of the exchange and held in a cold wallet, Fast forwards September 2017 the price kept going up I couldn’t even believe it specially after it broke past 10k I was so euphoric matter fact I was chilling in here, in this subreddit celebrating with everyone posting memes etc.. When BTC hit 20k my greedy asss still didnt wanna sell I didn’t have a price target I though it will keep going up forever. It was going so quick I couldn’t even process what was happening I told my siblings I was rich they told me to sell this bubble but I said "HELL NO! I was part of the moonboy gang we don’t sell we HOODL" I was 19 at the time. seeing this type of money was unreal I had more than 6 fucking figures in my wallet. Eventually we topped out at 20k I didn’t sell although the price kept going down and down and Depression started to hit after we dropped below 10k specially when it went down more near the 3k level I started to regret everything kicking my self for not listening to my siblings when they told me sell. Nonetheless I still had faith in Bitcoin and knew one day we will recover but I needed to accepted the fact that it might take months maybe years to get back to ath. for this reason I disconnected from the crypto community I had to forget about Bitcoin so I shifted my focus somewhere else luckily I stumbled across this popular game called “Fortnite” it took all my time and distraction away from my crypto for a good year or two I barely even noticed the peak of 2019. Anyways mid-late 2019 I got heavy in the stock market I started to see all these guru make insane amount of money just day trading. I was more of an investor type guy but I consumed so much information about day trading and how the psychological aspect is so important, I guess I mastered a bit of that by holding Bitcoin throughout the bear market. Anyways recently in August during the Bitcoin rally I though I had enough skills and decided it was finally time for me to trade Bitcoin specially because it was tradable 24/7 I wanted to start increasing my money and stop sitting on my coins I've had enough of the bear market I thought it was gonna be another P&D episode specially after I started to get deeper in the Crypto community and understood how price moves. I used to be Bitcoin maximalist but then I started to notice the suspicious activity around bitcoin, I came to realize that bitcoin was not the same as it was before, these toxic unregulated entities have turned bitcoin into a giant ponzi playground with everyone being brainwashed by these crypto twitter advocates who are nothing but CZ binance acting puppets. I know it sound crazy but it’s true, the receipt it out to the public, the price is manipulated by Tetther Mafia and these scam exchange. I don’t believe in conspiracy but neither do I believe in coincidence, I witnessed this fraud my own eyes, Whale-alert notified me every time Tetther printed new money and sent it to exchanges and next thing you the price went up. Ever since they added derivative I assume they manipulate the price in spot to liquidate future traders. This whole rally was propt by Tetther mafia using the overall condition in the market as an excuse to attempt artificial FOMO and bring real liquidity in this fake liquidity pool. As the fraud was getting more obvious I started to despise Bitcoin and traded the ponzi based off emotions I neglected the technicals I didn’t have risk management and eventually got liquidated. This is my 3yr+ journey went from 11 btc to 0.. I feel horrible, sad, hopeless and disappointed this was my whole networth vanished in 1-2month. I deprived myself from so many things these last few years hoping my investment grows enough to fund my future. My family still think I’m holding Bitcoins I feel so bad I let them down not sure I'll be able to recover from this. Ps: for those saying Tetther is an old conspiracy trust me this time is different and incomparable to the previous years, the fraud is fully transparent now. Their activity has been very suspicious and concerning lately I’m sensing a major exit-scam. this will impact the whole crypto space because this unbacked counterfeit USD holds most if not all the order book liquidity.
CC - We've spent the past 8 months building Binance Academy, an entirely free educational portal with no advertisements.
Hi /CryptoCurrency With the recent market upturn, the amount of people interested in blockchain technology has come with it. We, Binance Academy, have spent the bear market building an entirely free educational platform for anyone to access. No ads, no paid content, free to use, always and available in 16 languages. I'd like to know what you'd like to see next on Binance Academy - Are there any topics you'd like to learn? Binance Academy Content:
Focus everyone: When Oyster boomed in December I wanted to go on a huge hiring spree. I was always very product focused but people only wanted to hear about marketing. Chris Bamber approached me along with Bill. Bill turned out to be an honest and hardworking guy (as CFO), but Chris did next to nothing. I paid each member of c-suite 1 million PRL each which was evaluated at half a million dollars each. Chris bailed on us for the exponential hiring. Why was I so pushy about hiring? Because I knew Bitcoin and all of crypto was in a bubble. I sold a lot of my own PRL and PRL for the treasury but Bill preached hesitation instead. Then ETH went from $1200 to $200. It became difficult to keep hiring people, my plan for a large robust team of developers was blocked. I spent downtime to start healing from trauma I was going through. Then Bill told the group that we got accepted on Binance. That’s when the problems started. The price immediately started pumping from 4c to 26c. I warned Bill against insider trading, he didn’t care. So instead of him and his VC friends dumping on you, I dumped on him. I advise all of you to get out of crypto. Go educate yourselves about what is happening with Tether. The entire crypto sphere is a giant Ponzi scheme. I warned all of you, multiple times, in private and public, and nobody listens. Ethereum is going back to $5, if you want to sell back to a greater fool then you will only find yourself to be that fool. https://twitter.com/Bitfinexed/ https://reddit.com/buttcoin What will now happen:
Bill, you’re fired.
I am going to program the protocol on my own, gradually. If someone wants to help me they can do so free of charge. No marketing, no nonsense.
PRL will still be the valid token used by the protocol (no contract swap).
I reject the Binance listing and I don’t want Kucoin to re-activate our listings.
Focus on the storage peg, that is what brings value to the token, not your Ponzi-Shenanigans.
If you want to buy only to sell to a greater fool, then you are that greater fool. PRL and SHL are not to be listed on an exchange until they are actual functioning products. I will also consider revealing my identity over the next few days. I will be posting updates on development after I straighten out this situation. I am now going to dump as many chat logs as I can to show what happened with Oyster. UPDATE: If you want to play greater-fool games with Bill and co, and there is an overwhelming vote in support for Oyster becoming a permaponzi, then I will leave you all to have fun with it. If you want PRL to operate as I've described in the whitepaper, everyone is fired and I will slowly but surely work on the protocol and post progress publicly. The last time I hired a bunch of people and threw money at them they turned it into a circus. However, I don't believe there will be electricity running through the power grid soon. I sent this video and others like it a long time ago to this chat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOMWzjrRiBg Go learn about peak oil and the fractional reserve banking system. The stock shale bubble is an obfuscated means to subsidize the price of oil. In Brazil, Indonesia, and other developing nations, the price of oil is subsidized with debt directly by the government. When the debt bubble pops, the price of oil will skyrocket, trucks won't be bringing produce into your city let alone computers won't be spending energy to secure the blockchain. I believe in Oyster as a product, but I don't believe there will be a future to host it. I will program it since the program is a promise from me, but don't complain that Oyster isn't running when a banana costs $5,000. Anyone here who has swiped a credit card or taken an interest-bearing loan has the blood of the incoming collapse on their hands. Billions of people will die, there are massive droughts and food shortages as we speak. I've made a lot of dollars by selling PRL, I immediatelly ditched the dollars to buy real things so that I can protect myself and my family from the collapse. That's all I ever wanted, and now that I have that secured, I will deliver the protocol which I promised myself. Give me some time to get my head straight after these dramatic few days, I will gradually post progress on github. You can also buy popcorn futures on /buttcoin.
What coin is your "sleeper" coin that has a promising future?
There is a big cognitive dissonance within the crypto community. The dream of decentralization and censorship resistance is dominated by big centralized exchanges centralized empires like Binance and Coinbase. Speculation still drives the market and fuels the continued growth of centralized exchanges. One of the leading factors fueling the revenue stream of exchanges is new coins, namely ICOs and in future STOs. ICOs became nothing more than a way of Flipping Tokens. Most ICOs used and continue to used Proof of Greater Fool to push forward their blockchain. People invest in something that they know is probably worthless and extremely overpriced, hoping that they can sell that worthless overpriced digital token to a "Greater Fool". In the end, all ICO investors are fools because even if Fool #1 manages to Flip the token at 3x the price he bought it at, he is still the fool compared to the ''ICO that now holds millions** collected by all the #1 fools. Essentially ICOs that list on exchanges right away that have nothing to offer and no product are basically Ponzi schemes, with ICO team at the top, ICO Buyers second Layer and people on the exchange at the bottom of the pyramid. The IEO (Initial Exchange Offering) is a natural evolution of this Ponzi scheme: Now with ICO and Exchanges working together to pump up the price, being able to freely manipulate the price of the token and print free money. As Cryptocurrencies are a totally unregulated market they are pretty much free to do whatever they want. Cryptocurrency exchanges basically became empires fueled by greed, trading fees, listing fees, and so much more. These empires have no interest in changing the system, similar to how banks do not want to give away power. It is expected of anyone in power to be very corrupt in a totally uncontrolled market.
BUIDL VS Initial Exchange Offerings
In 2019, for the first time in 3 years, projects that focused on tech, product, and business development came out of the darkness. Most people pretended to work to look good to raise money, however, some actually worked to solve problems. 2019 was also the year that we started to see Initial Exchange Offerings. ICOs conducted on exchanges compared to publicly. The original purpose of ICOs was to take away the monopoly of fundraising away from stock exchanges and brokerage firms. An IEO is well explained in that scene of Wolf of Wall Street, when they opened an IPO for Steve Madden shoes. Remember when a centralized entity is responsible for issuing a new stock? It probably has a vast interest in pumping that price, but is it legal in the traditional financial space? ICOs that are actually working hard to build their product also understand that in order for their projects to become successful they need to become decentralized. They need to get their tokens in as many hands as possible. Of course, the person that is attached to that hand should also bring value to the project. The best example of the power of useful decentralization is Bitcoin. Bitcoin has a pretty old tech, had a few bugs in their source code, is super slow, but yet it has by far the best community and strongest social consensus. Hashrate doesn't mean much, after all, Bitcoin Cash had a bigger hash rate for a brief while, but it was the social consensus of the mining community that decided not to implement the new changes introduced by Rodger and Bitmain. Now BCH is less than 96% of the market Cap it used to be. The value of cryptocurrencies is defined by nothing more than censorship resistance, game theory, and token holders. In the long term, these three factors will be decisive determining which coin will have the biggest market cap. Bitcoin has by far the most censorship resistance, probably one of the best game theories and by far the best community. The value of a coin is pretty much all about: how hard it is to change the information saved on the block * (sum of all useful skills and influence amongst all token holders) that can be leveraged by game theory within the ecosystem.
Best case vs Worst Case outcome for an ICO
An ICO that is used for its actual purpose and not as a vehicle to facilitate scamming, can be seen as the big bang of any new blockchain ecosystem. Successful ICOs understand that they need to act like economies, not companies. Usually, economies filled with smart people that can utilize their skills to push their ecosystem that is also run by the good government (good game theory) do very well, compared to economies that have a very small set of inhabitants that can bring economic value for influence and skill sets. The optimal scenario for an ICO would be if the tokens were magically distributed among the best developers, business integrators, influencers, politicians and basically anybody that would be willing and capable of bringing value to the new blockchain ecosystem. Bitcoin’s mechanism to achieve this magical community was via mining and its 4-year reward halving cycle. It takes a great deal of passion and technical skills to start mining. Also, the low token price during the first few years motivated the best developers, who are also deeply interested in the technology, to jump onboard and help on its development efforts. This also allowed them to acquire a lot of tokens in the process. The 4 year Bitcoin Pump and Dumps enable very smart individuals to join the bitcoin ecosystem every 4 years and accumulate at low prices. Regulators love crypto once they’ve also bought a bag. Therefore the best outcome is the magical distribution of tokens to all the best developers, business integrators, influencers, politicians and basically anybody that would be willing and able to help that new blockchain ecosystem. The worst case would be an ICO whose tokens holders are mostly speculators, also known as an initial Exchange offering.

''' I'm gonna post this in every /news thread because it seems people here don't understand the most basic facts about "cryptocurrencies". Cryptocurrencies are not always meant to function like traditional currencies. They're called currencies because they're tradeable.
A cryptocurrency (or crypto currency) is a digital asset designed to work as a medium of exchange that uses cryptography to secure its transactions, to control the creation of additional units, and to verify the transfer of assets
All that means is they're digital assets that can be traded from one party to another without the need of a middleman. It doesn't mean they are a currency meant to buy lattes and pay your friends. Some of the most interesting cryptos are ones that people will not even realize they are using. There are many classes of coins/tokens. Which can do a lot of different things. An absurd amount of things.
Traditional Coins: Bitcoin, Litecoin
DAG Coins: IOTA, Raiblocks
Supply Chain Coins: VeChain, Waltonchain, Modum
Privacy Coins: Monero, Dash, ZCash
Edit: Anyone who's researched the most basic facts of crypto knows that bitcoin is not private. You all are reading news from the early 2010's at this point.
There are dozens more categories. Including things like [Credit]1 , [Debt]2 , and [Shit that's so complicated I can't even explain it]3 . The key is that they are easily tradable from you to me. I can send anyone on this board crypto right now. As long I know where to send it. That crypto goes way beyond cash and currency. Some of them could represent anything. From dividend payments to debt. Say Apple decided to come out with a coin called APPLE. That APPLE coin would distribute you profits based on how much you hold (Like a dividend). Then you could trade APPLE for GE. Without a broker. What if you could buy a house without a title company? Or send money to your family in a foreign country with no fees? There are millions of problems that crypto can help solve. Some of them don't require a token and just need a blockchain. Some of them CAN use a token, and that coin/token can have tremendous value. That's what cryptocurrencies are. They're not stocks, real estate, bonds, or commodities. They're a whole new thing. They have different parameters. They act different. They have different markets. The reason Bitcoin(BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) are so dominant is because they are the de facto trading commodity in the crypto space. Everything is CoinX/BTC or Coinx/ETH. You need these coins to get in the game. [Bitcoin is dying.]4 It's having trouble scaling and facing internal (the bcash war) and external (governments, whales) pressure. It's continued to lose market share to ETH and several new up and comers that can do even more. Crypto is rapidly changing. People are moving away from power intensive Proof of Work protocols to Proof of Stake variations. We now have DAGs entering the fray, which have hypothetical feeless and instant transactions that could potentially power a whole new ecosystem of payments and devices. The world of crypto is exciting and interesting. It's volitile and dangerous. But it's not a ponzi scheme. It's not a scam. There is real money being made. Real companies are embracing it. Real interesting ideas are being constructed and executed. You have basically two choices. You can get interested and learn, or you can pretend it's not real and ignore it. The latter group has been proven repeatedly wrong. Those mistakes could possibly be fatal for certain businesses. As for the "bubble" talk. Crypto bubbles pop all the time. Bitconnect (an infamous scam) was annihilated this week. Bitcoin itself is bleeding badly and continues to lose market share. Coins like Vertcoin rocket up to the top 20 only to fall below into the 100s based on overhype and "flavor of the month" style thinking. It's complex international market that never sleeps, always surprises and is difficult to predict. One thing is for sure. Regardless of whether you believe in crypto or not. The people calling it "all a ponzi", "tulip mania", or "drug currency". Those people are fucking morons who have done no research. They're also incredibly abundant here. Crypto may be speculative, but you bet your ass people are going to speculate with twelve figure companies like Microsoft, IBM, Bosch are creating entire legions of personnel and resources dedicated to developing them. Each coin has a unique user base, application and potential. Some of them have serious challenges. Some of them have serious flaws. The activity in China, Korea and Japan is extraordinary. Some cities are positioning themselves to be "crypto capitals". There is even speculation that countries like China will "anoint" blockchains to be standardized and used throughout their economy. Cornering the market and dumping spectacular amounts of cash into certain coins. The rabbit hole goes even deeper when you get into ICOs, deep chart tokens, whale manipulation, governmental relations (Chinacoin), investor theory (going beyond coin fundamentals to coin perception and marketing), taxes, complex ecosystems (ERC20 tokens), cold storage, exchange politics, and dozens of other hot topics. I hope that clears some things up. I also suggest reading and visiting the communities behind some of the coins I've listed. Edit: added some details and fixed some spelling. Please feel free to repost this, or correct me.
